The Little Light of Hope

Have you ever seen a place that just felt a little bit... dim? Not scary-dark, but quiet-dark. Like the light just decided to take a very long nap

Our friend, Hazel, noticed this one night in her garden. She tiptoed outside, holding a small blanket very tight, just in case. "Hello?" she whispered to the shadows.

And guess what she found? Not a dragon, not a grumbling bear, but the tiniest, dullest little firefly you ever did see. He sat on a low, green leaf, looking very sad.

"Oh dear," said Hazel. "You're a firefly, but where is your fire? You look like you've lost your own special sparkle!" He didn't answer. He just sighed a tiny, little firefly sigh.

Now, sometimes, when we lose our sparkle—when we are worried or scared—we just need a little hope. Hope is like a warm, cozy feeling that reminds you: You can do this.

Hazel told the little firefly, "It’s okay to be scared, little friend. But even the smallest light is brave. That little bit of courage is always hiding right inside you."

She didn't force him to shine. She just sat there, waiting, being a quiet, hopeful light herself. And that’s what courage is! Being yourself, even when you feel wobbly.

Flick heard her kind words and felt her big, brave heart. Wiggle, wiggle... he thought. Maybe I can try. He pushed away the quiet-dark feeling and took a deep, firefly breath.

And POP! A beautiful, warm, yellow light flashed! It was bright and happy and full of zoom! Flick’s little light was back, full of courage and hope!

And that, my dear friend, is how we find our sparkle. We just remember that even when things feel dim, we all have a brave light of hope and courage tucked right inside. Now go shine!
