Small hearts, big kindness
KINDNESS
In a small, sunny town lived two best friends named Tuttu and Kitti. Every morning, they walked to school together, laughing, racing, and talking about their dreams.
One day, as they crossed the market road, they saw an old man sitting under a tree. His clothes were worn, his hands were trembling, and beside him was a small sign that said: “I am hungry.”
Tuttu stopped. “Kitti … look. He hasn’t eaten.” Kitti looked at the old man with gentle eyes. “We should help him.” They checked their school bags. Tuttu had a sandwich. Kitti had a small lunchbox with chapati and sabzi.
“Let’s share,” Kitti said with a smile. They walked to the old man and offered the food. The man looked up, surprised. “For me?” he asked softly. “Yes,” Tuttu said. “We want you to eat.” The old man’s eyes filled with tears. “Thank you… I haven’t had a meal since yesterday.”
He ate slowly, blessing them with every bite. But the kids didn’t stop there. After school, they collected old clothes and asked their parents for extra fruits. Together, they brought everything back to the old man. “Take these,” Kitti said. So you don’t feel cold,” Tuttu added.
The old man folded his hands. “You two are small in size, but your hearts are very big.”
Word spread around the neighborhood. Soon, more people came forward with food and help. The old man no longer sat hungry and alone.
Tuttu and Kitti learned something important that day— You don’t need to be rich to help someone. You just need a kind heart. And from that day on, they promised to help anyone in need—because kindness, once given, always grows.
