Soon a man saw the gingerbread man. “Stop!” said the man. “I want to eat you.” But the gingerbread man ran past the man.

Soon a cow saw the gingerbread man. “Stop!” said the cow. “I want to eat you.” But the gingerbread man ran past the cow.

Soon a horse saw the gingerbread man. “Stop!” said the horse. “I want to eat you.” But the gingerbread man ran past the horse.

Soon the gingerbread man came to a wide river. He could not run across the river.

A fox saw the gingerbread man. “Jump on my back,” said the fox. “I will help you cross the river.”

The gingerbread man jumped on the fox’s back.The fox swam across the river.The water was deep.

“Jump on my nose so you don’t get wet,” said the fox. The gingerbread man climbed onto the fox’s nose. Suddenly the fox snapped his mouth.

He ate the gingerbread man. Then the fox happily walked away into the forest.
