Lily and Her Changing Shadow
Join Lily, a curious girl in a bright yellow raincoat, as she discovers the playful magic of her own shadow throughout the day. From a giant in the morning to a tiny blob at noon and a super-long stretch in the afternoon, Lily learns how the sun tricks and entertains with light and shade.
Lily wore her bright yellow raincoat every day. Rain or shine, the shiny slicker stayed on.
"Why does my shadow change?" she wondered, her eyes wide.
One sunny morning, a long, stretchy shadow danced before her. It looked like a giant!
Lily giggled. She stretched her arm. The shadow stretched its arm. She wiggled her fingers. The shadow wiggled its fingers!
Lily ran and ran, but the long shadow always ran with her. She tried to catch it. *Whish!* The shadow was too fast.
It kept getting longer and longer. By noontime, the sun was high. Lily’s shadow was now a tiny, plump blob right under her feet.
"Poof!" she cried. She stomped. The shadow stomped. She jumped. The shadow jumped! It was so small!
She tried to step on it. But no matter how fast she moved her foot, the little shadow wiggled away. *Zoom!*
In the late afternoon, the sun dipped lower. Lily saw her shadow again. Oh! It was super long now. It stretched far, far ahead. It was even longer than in the morning!
She chased it. She lunged. *Swish!* The shadow raced ahead.
The sun was a magic painter, making her shadow big, then small, then big again.
Lily clapped her hands. The sun was tricky, but fun!
