Hello! This is Leo. Leo loves to fix things and ask: "Who thought of this?" Today, he is going to explore Inventions—special ideas that made the world better!

Leo flips a switch and the room is bright. He learns about the Lightbulb! Before it was invented, people used candles and oil lamps. The lightbulb made it safe and easy to work and play even after the sun went down.

Leo looks at his favorite book. He learns about the Printing Press. Long ago, books were written by hand! This invention allowed thousands of books to be made quickly so that everyone could learn to Read.

Leo opens the Refrigerator. Before the "Fridge," food would go bad very quickly. This invention uses special gasses to keep food Cold, so our milk and meat stay fresh for a long time.

Leo hears a ring. It is the Telephone! Alexander Graham Bell invented the first phone. It allowed people to talk to each other even if they were many miles apart. Now, we have phones in our pockets!

Leo learns about a special medicine called Penicillin. It was discovered by accident! It was the first "Antibiotic" that could kill bad germs and save people from being very sick. It is a Lifesaving invention.

Leo looks at a plane in the sky. He thinks of the Airplane. The Wright brothers were the first to fly a powered plane. This invention made the world feel smaller because we can now travel across Oceans in hours.

Sam holds a Compass. This invention uses a magnetic needle to always point North. It helped explorers sail across the world without getting lost at sea.

Leo uses his tablet. He learns about the Internet. This is an invention that connects every computer in the world! It allows us to share Information and talk to anyone, anywhere, instantly.

Leo realizes that not all inventions are big. The Paperclip, the Zipper, and even the Wheel are amazing inventions! They are simple ideas that solve everyday problems.

Leo learns that many inventors Failed many times before they succeeded. The secret is to never give up and keep trying new ideas. Mistakes are just a way to learn!
