Hello! This is Mai. Today, she is sitting on the grass under a big tree. She sees a long line of tiny black dots moving. "Where are you going, little friends?" whispers Mai. She lies down very low to see them better. Suddenly, in her imagination, Mai becomes Tiny, just like an ant!

First, Mai meets the Scout Ant. She learns about Discovery. The scout ant is at the front of the line. He uses his feelers to find the way. "Follow me!" he seems to say. Mai follows him into the tall green grass that looks like a giant forest.

Next, Mai sees a Huge Crumb. She learns about Strength. The crumb is a piece of cookie from Mai's snack, but to an ant, it is as big as a house! She watches four ants lift it together. "Teamwork makes the load light," thinks Mai.

Now, they reach the Ant Hill. She learns about Architecture. The hill is made of tiny grains of sand. Inside, there are many tunnels and rooms. It is a secret underground city! Mai is amazed at how clever the little ants are.

Suddenly, a Big Raindrop falls. She learns about Protection. To a tiny Mai, one drop of water is like a falling bucket! The ants quickly run inside their tunnels to stay dry. Mai hides under a large clover leaf until the "storm" is over.

Next, Mai meets the Queen Ant. She learns about Leadership. The Queen is the biggest ant and everyone takes care of her. She stays in a safe, deep room. The ants bring her the best food and keep her very comfortable.

Now, Mai sees the Ant Bridge. She learns about Connection. The ants hold onto each other to cross a small crack in the ground. Mai walks across the "living bridge" very carefully. She realizes that friends can help each other reach far places.

Suddenly, a Hungry Spider appears. She learns about Defense. The ants stand together to protect their home. They are small, but they are very brave. The spider decides to go away and find a quieter spot to rest.

Next, Mai helps find some Sweet Nectar. She learns about Energy. They find a fallen flower with a drop of sweet juice inside. It tastes like honey! The ants are very happy to have this special treat for their family.

Now, the sun begins to Set. She learns about Rest. The line of ants moves slower as they go back into their warm, dark tunnels. Mai knows it is time for her to grow big again and go back to her own house.

The adventure is Ending. She learns about Perspective. Mai sits up and realizes she is back to her normal size. The "giant forest" is just her backyard grass, and the "monsters" are just tiny bugs. But her heart is full of wonder.

Then, Mai sees her Mom calling her for dinner. She learns about Reality. Mai smiles at the ants on the ground. "Goodbye, little builders!" she says. She will never look at a tiny ant the same way again.

Finally, Mai tells her Dad about the ant city. She learns about Storytelling. Dad is surprised by how much she knows. Mai realizes that Even the smallest creatures have a very big and busy life. If you were tiny like Mai, would you carry a cookie crumb or explore a sand tunnel?
