Choo-choo! The Word Train was ready to go. “All aboard!” called Conductor Max. “Check the letter on each carriage. Only words beginning or ending with that letter can hop on!”

The m carriage was first. “Only words starting or ending in m,” said Max. "Man, map, mat! Jam, ham, Tom! Great! Carriage m is full!”

Next came the r carriage. “If you start with r, or end with r, you can board,” Max said. Rat, ram, and rip rushed in. Car, her, and fur found their seats too.

The n carriage was next. “Any words beginning or ending with the letter n?” Max asked. Nap, net, and nut climbed in. Pan, sun, and tin followed fast.

Then Max reached the c carriage. “Words that start or end with c, on you go!” Can, cap, and cat jumped aboard. Max scratched his head. “No words that end with c today?”

The last carriage had a big letter i. “Who begins or ends with i?” Max asked. He waited… and waited. “Hmm… is anyone here?”

Suddenly, Max heard “i i!” He turned around fast. It was ink! “You made it just in time!”

“In you go, ink!” said Max with a smile. “You’re the only passenger in the i carriage today!” Ink waved happily from its seat.

After all the words had boarded, Max climbed into the engine car. “Full steam ahead!” he shouted. “Next stop, Lettertown!”

The Word Train clickety-clacked down the track. Choo-choo! The words sang and cheered. Lettertown, here we come!
