Little Clay stood tall and tried to whistle. He wanted his friend to hear him from far away. “Please hear me,” he whispered to the sky.

She didn’t hear his whistle, so Little Clay hurried to her door. Knock, knock! “Are you there?” he called softly.

The door slowly opened, and Lina peeked out at Milo. “Milo? I heard your knock,” she said with a warm smile.

Milo ran to Lina, and she opened her arms. They hugged each other tightly. “I’m so happy you’re here,” Milo whispered.

Hand in hand, Milo and Lina began to walk. “Let’s find a big tree to rest under,” Lina said. Milo nodded, smiling, “And we can read there too.”

Milo and Lina found a cool, shady place under bright green leaves. They opened a little book about friendship and light. “Look,” Lina said softly, “this part feels just like us.”

As they read, Lina’s eyes grew heavy. She drifted to sleep, resting softly on Milo’s arm. Milo smiled and whispered, “I’ll stay right here.”

Lina woke up with a tiny yawn. Milo took her hand and led her to the swing. They hopped on together and began to sway with joy.

Milo and Lina climbed the rocky hill together. They wanted to reach the top before the sun went down. “Let’s watch the sunset,” Lina said, pointing ahead.

Milo and Lina reached the top just in time. Together they watched the bright orange sun sink into the sky. “It’s so beautiful,” Lina whispered, holding his hand.

After the sunset, Milo walked Lina back to her door. He held her hand gently and said, “See you next time.”

Milo and Lina gave one last wave at the gate. “See you tomorrow,” Lina called as she headed home. Milo smiled, “I’ll be here.”
