I am standing in a big, colorful meadow. I see yellow, red, and purple flowers dancing in the wind. The air smells like sweet perfume. I hear a soft sound: Bzzz... Bzzz... Someone is coming to visit.

A small, fuzzy honeybee lands on a bright daisy. The bee has yellow and black stripes. It has five eyes and four wings. It looks very busy, like it is on a very important mission.

Why did the bee land here? I look deep into the center of the flower. There is a tiny drop of sweet liquid called nectar. For a bee, nectar is like a yummy energy drink!

I watch the bee use its long tongue. It works just like a straw! The bee sips the sweet nectar and stores it in a special "honey stomach." It will take this juice back home to make honey.

While the bee is drinking, I see something else. The flower has tiny yellow grains called pollen. As the bee moves around, the pollen sticks to the bee’s fuzzy hair. Now the bee looks like it is covered in yellow glitter!

The bee is finished with the first flower. It flies away to a different flower nearby. The bee is carrying the yellow pollen on its body. It doesn't know it, but it is carrying a very important gift.

The bee lands on the second flower. As it crawls around to find more nectar, some of the yellow pollen from the first flower falls off. This is called pollination. The flowers are sharing their "magic dust."

When the pollen from one flower reaches another flower, a miracle happens. The flower can now start to make seeds. Without the bee's help, the flower would be lonely and couldn't grow babies.

I watch the flower as the days go by. The petals fall off, but a tiny green bump grows in the middle. This bump grows bigger and bigger until it becomes a strawberry, an apple, or a tomato!

The bee flies back to its hive. It shares the nectar with its friends. They flap their wings very fast to dry the nectar. Soon, it turns into thick, golden honey. This is the bee's food for the winter.

I see that the bee and the flower are a perfect team. The flower gives the bee food (nectar), and the bee helps the flower grow seeds (pollination). They help each other every single day.

The next time I see a bowl of fruit, I think of the little bee. Without the "Bzzz" in the garden, we wouldn't have many of the foods we love. Nature is full of helpful friends.
