جزئیات داستان

Hello! This is Mai. Today, she is sitting on the floor in the hallway. In front of her is a long row of shoes.

"Where do you go all day?" Mai whispers to her sneakers. Suddenly, she feels very small. The hallway turns into a Giant Road, and the shoes are ready to move!

First, Mai hops into her Yellow Sneakers. She learns about Speed. These shoes are for running and jumping. Boing, boing! Mai feels like she has springs on her feet. She zooms past the umbrella stand like a fast little car.

Next, Mai finds her Shiny Red Rain Boots. She learns about Splash. Even though there is no rain, Mai pretends the blue rug is a big puddle. Stomp, stomp! These boots are strong and keep her toes dry and happy.

Now, Mai sees her Mom’s High Heels. She learns about Balance. They are tall and sparkly. Mai tries to walk in them: Wobble, wobble. "It is hard to be tall!" giggles Mai. She realizes her mom must be very good at balancing.

Suddenly, Mai meets the Old Gardening Boots. She learns about Dirt. They belong to her Dad and are covered in dried mud. They tell stories of digging holes and planting sunflowers. Mai feels like a brave explorer in the wild garden.

Next, Mai finds the Soft House Slippers. She learns about Quietness. They are fuzzy and shaped like rabbits. When Mai wears them, her steps make no sound. Shhh. She creeps past Miu Miu the cat without waking her up.

Now, Mai sees the Tiny Baby Shoes. She learns about Growth. They are so small! Mai’s feet used to fit inside them long ago. "I am growing bigger every day," thinks Mai. She feels proud to be a big girl now.

Suddenly, a Shoelace comes undone. She learns about Knots. Mai sits down and tries to tie a bow. Loop, swoop, and pull! It is like a puzzle for her fingers. "I did it!" Mai cheers when the bow is perfect.

Next, Mai looks at the Sandals. She learns about Freedom. They have open toes to feel the cool breeze. Mai remembers the feeling of sand between her toes at the beach. These shoes smell like summer and sunshine.

Now, Mai finds the Soccer Cleats. She learns about Grip. The bottom has small bumps so she doesn't slip on the grass. Crunch, crunch. Mai pretends she is scoring a goal in a big stadium with thousands of people cheering.

The sun begins to Set through the door. She learns about Order. Mai realizes the shoes are all over the place! She decides to put them back in pairs—left and right, side by side. A good explorer always keeps the path tidy.

Then, Mai’s mom comes into the hallway. She learns about Reality. "What are you doing, Mai?" asks Mom. Mai smiles and says, "I just traveled around the world!" Mom gives her a hug and helps her put on her favorite yellow sneakers.

Finally, Mai goes to have dinner. She learns about Journey. She realizes that every pair of shoes takes her on a different adventure. "Where shall we go tomorrow?" she asks her sneakers. Mai knows the world is waiting for her steps.

Mai’s shoe adventure is finished. She tells her dad, "I was tall and fast and fuzzy today!" She realized that Every step is the start of a new story. If you could pick any shoes, would you choose fast sneakers or fuzzy rabbit slippers?
