Cen the pencil was a snob. He only wrote in regal purple. Not red, not blue, never green! His purple lead made the most magnificent squiggles and swishes.

But a colossal crisis crashed in, just hours before the "Wonderful Wobbly Worms" drawing contest! Cen's purple lead, his precious, perfect purple, was GONE!

His tip was a blunt, pale nub. "Oh, woe is me!" he shrieked, his wooden sides trembling. "No purple! No wobbly worms! My artistic career is DOOMED!"

He zoomed across the desk, a blur of pencil-panic. He screeched past a slumbering stapler. "Purple! Where is the purple?" he wailed.

First, Cen bounced wildly into the crayon box. "Purple, purple, glorious purple!" he chanted, digging his blunt nose deep.

He rummaged past Ruby Red, skipped over Sunny Yellow, and bumped into Grumpy Gray. No deep, royal purple crayon was to be found! "Just these dull, boring colors!" he grumbled, his graphite heart sinking.

Next, he rocketed to the art supply drawer. It was a treasure chest of colors! He flung open tubes of paint, spilling blobs of azure and emerald. He sniffed at markers, but they smelled of stale licorice.

His little pencil eyes darted, searching, hoping for a glimmer of purple. But alas, only browns and blacks stared back. "No purple here either!" he cried, a tiny tear rolling down his wooden cheek. "My worms will be colorless blobs!"

Finally, slumped against a towering stack of paper, Cen saw a tiny, brave crayon. It was a leftover, a stubby little thing, barely bigger than his eraser. And it was a vibrant violet.

Not quite purple, but close! "Please, oh please!" Cen whispered, his voice trembling. "Can you help a desperate pencil? My wobbly worms need color!"

The brave little crayon, with a cheerful wiggle, offered its tiny tip. Cen, with a surge of hope, pressed himself against the crayon.

Together, they made a beautiful, royal-ish violet line, a squiggly worm, vibrant and alive! It wasn't perfect purple, but it was perfectly wonderful. The contest was saved!
