Join a young adventurer on a delightful day at the lake as they embark on a journey in a giant yellow duck boat. From pedaling past fountains to meeting real ducks and colorful fish, this story captures the joy and wonder of exploring the water.
I am standing by a big, blue lake. The sun is shining. The water is sparkling like diamonds. I see many people laughing and playing. It is a perfect day for a water adventure!
I walk down to a long wooden path over the water. This is the pier. I see a row of giant, bright yellow ducks waiting for me. They are not real ducks; they are swan boats and duck boats!
I look at all the boats. Some are white like swans, but I like the yellow ones. My duck has big orange eyes and a wide orange beak. It looks very friendly and happy to see me.
I step carefully into the duck boat. The boat wobbles a little bit on the water—woosh, woosh. I sit down on a soft blue seat. There is a small steering wheel in front of me, just like a car.
I look down at my feet. There are two metal pedals. To make the duck move, I have to push them with my feet. Left, right, left, right. It feels like riding a bicycle on the water!
I start to pedal faster. The duck begins to glide across the lake. I look behind me and see small waves in the water. The duck is moving! It feels cool and breezy as I leave the pier behind.
I turn the steering wheel to the left. The duck’s head turns left. I turn it to the right, and we go right! I feel like a captain of a very cute ship. I am heading toward the middle of the lake.
I see a big fountain in the center of the lake. Water shoots high into the sky! As I pedal closer, I feel tiny drops of water on my face. It feels so cold and refreshing. Splash, splash!
I see some real ducks swimming nearby. They are much smaller than my boat. Quack, quack! They look at my giant yellow duck and swim along with me. We are all swimming together in a line.
I pedal toward a beautiful stone bridge. It looks like a tunnel. As I go under the bridge, the sound of my pedaling gets louder. Clack, clack, clack. It is nice and shady here.
I look over the side of the boat into the clear water. I see many colorful goldfish swimming under my duck. They are orange and white. They follow the boat because they think I have snacks!
The sun is starting to go down. I turn the steering wheel one last time and pedal back to the pier. I am a little tired, but I am very happy. Playing with the giant duck was the best part of my day.
