In a sunny meadow lived a little tortoise named Tori. Tori dreamed of exploring the world, but a big, roaring river stood in her way.

Every day, Tori watched the river rush and swirl. She tried to cross it, but SPLASH! The water always pushed her back.

One day, a wise old heron named Sage landed nearby. “Don’t give up!” said Sage. “Watch, learn, and try again.”

Tori watched the river. She learned where the water was calm, where the rocks were steady, and when the current slowed.

Tori kept trying. Sometimes she slipped—SPLASH!—but each time, she got back up, stronger and wiser.

One calm day, Tori took a deep breath. She slipped into the water and paddled carefully, her little legs moving steadily. Using the rocks as resting spots, she swam across bit by bit, never giving up.

Hooray! Tori made it to the other side! She was wet and tired but so, so proud.

Tori smiled at the big world ahead. “I did it!” she said. She knew she could face any challenge now.
