Hello! This is Mai.

Today, she found an old, rusty key hidden under a loose stone in her backyard.

She followed a path covered in thick ivy until she reached a wooden gate she had never seen before.

Behind the gate was the Secret Garden of Giant Flowers, where the blossoms were taller than her house!

First, Mai steps through the gate and feels the Climate Change. Inside the secret garden, the air is warm and misty, like a tropical rainforest. She learns about Microclimates. The tall walls and thick leaves trap the heat, allowing these massive, exotic flowers to grow in a regular neighborhood.

Next, Mai sees a Blue Bellflower that is as big as a bathtub. She reaches out to touch its petals, which feel like soft velvet. She learns about Structure. To grow this big, the flower has a stem as thick as a tree trunk. She feels like a tiny fairy exploring a giant's bouquet.

Mai notices a Snapdragon the size of a car! When she gently touches its "chin," the flower's mouth opens wide. She learns about Plant Mechanics. Some flowers have evolved special shapes to hold specific types of bees or to protect their nectar from the rain.

In the center of the garden is a Sun-Dial Sunflower. This flower doesn't just follow the sun; its petals have numbers on them that glow when the sun hits them! Mai learns about Timekeeping. She realizes that nature has its own rhythm and its own way of measuring the passing of the day.

Suddenly, a Giant Butterfly with wings like stained-glass windows lands on a nearby hibiscus. Mai stays very still. She learns about Pollination. In this giant garden, the insects are big too, helping to carry massive amounts of pollen from one giant bloom to another.

Mai finds a patch of Whispering Lillies. When the wind blows through their petals, they make a sound like a soft flute. She learns about Bio-Acoustics. The shape of a flower can change the sound of the wind, creating a natural orchestra that plays a different song every time the breeze shifts.

She discovers a Rainbow Rose where every petal is a different color. Mai uses her crayons to try and match the shades. She learns about Pigmentation. Nature uses colors to attract friends and warn away enemies. The rose is a masterpiece of natural art.

Mai feels a drop of water on her head. She looks up and sees a Pitcher Plant that is catching rainwater in a bowl the size of a bucket. She learns about Water Storage. Some plants act like natural tanks, providing a drink for thirsty birds and insects during a dry summer.

Near the back of the garden, Mai finds the Ancient Oak-Bloom, a flower that only opens once every fifty years. It smells like sweet honey and vanilla. She learns about Rarity. Some things in life are special because they only happen very rarely, making this moment feel like a treasure.

As the sun begins to set, the flowers start to Glow. They have a soft, bioluminescent light that turns the garden into a neon wonderland. Mai learns that the garden doesn't go dark; it just changes its outfit for the night. The glowing petals light her way back to the gate.

Mai steps back into her regular backyard and closes the wooden gate. She looks at the rusty key in her hand and smiles. She learns that Magic is Everywhere, as long as you are brave enough to look behind the ivy and curious enough to open the door.

Mai’s garden adventure is finished. She goes inside to tell her mom all about the giant bluebells and the whispering lilies. She feels like she has a big secret that makes the world feel more exciting.

If you found a secret garden, would you want the flowers to be giant or would you want the trees to be made of candy?
