Isaac Newton was an incredibly smart man from England, born on Christmas Day in 1642 in Woolsthorpe.

He grew up to become a famous scientist who discovered the law of universal gravitation—a magical force that keeps everything on Earth and in the universe together.

Gravity is an invisible force that pulls everything close — like how Earth keeps us on the ground and helps the Moon go around it

As a child, Newton didn’t like farming like his mother wanted. Instead, he loved making sundials and windmill models with his hands, showing his curiosity from an early age.

In 1665, Newton returned to his hometown to escape a big sickness. He often sat under an apple tree in the garden, feeling peaceful and thinking about nature’s mysteries.

One day, while Newton was daydreaming, an apple fell “thump” onto his head! He jumped but instead of getting mad, he curiously watched it roll on the ground.

Newton wondered: “Why does the apple fall to the ground? Is there a force pulling it down?” This question sparked the start of his journey to discover gravitation.

He recalled leaves falling, water flowing down streams, and wondered if they were all connected to the force pulling the apple. These ideas made him very excited.

Newton thought the force pulling the apple might also keep the Moon near Earth and the planets orbiting the Sun. He began watching the stars every night.

Newton spent months writing notes and drawing pictures. He observed how the Moon moved and felt happy as his idea about gravitation started to make sense.

After years of thinking, Newton discovered the law of universal gravitation—a force that connects everything in the universe. He called it one of nature’s biggest secrets.

He tested it by watching how the Moon orbits Earth and saw his idea was correct. Newton cheered with joy for solving this big puzzle.

In 1687, Newton wrote a big book called “Principia Mathematica” to tell everyone about the law of universal gravitation. He worked hard to make it easy to understand.

After the book was published, the whole world knew Newton. In 1705, Queen Anne made him a knight, and he felt very proud of his work.

Newton moved to London and worked at the Royal Mint to make British coins more accurate. He kept studying and inspiring science.

From the falling apple, Newton taught us that the law of universal gravitation is a key part of life. His ideas still help scientists explore space today!
