At the very top of Junkyard Peak, where piles of old toys, gears, and springs glittered like treasure, lived a clever kid named Milo Sparks. He didn’t need a normal house— he had a fort built from junk and imagination.

Milo wasn’t messy—he was inventive. His goggles were always crooked, his socks never matched, and he carried tools everywhere he went. Beside him fluttered Pip, his tiny mechanical bird with squeaky wings.

One bright morning, Milo stretched and yawned. “Time for breakfast!” He placed a marble at the top of a small metal ramp.

Roll… bump… lift—WHACK! The marble rolled down, hit a pulley, lifted a hammer, and knocked over a cereal box— Cornflakes poured straight into Milo’s bowl. “Perfect!” he cheered.

Just then two voices yelled from below: “HEEEEY, MILO!” Up the path came his playful rivals. Tink was small and clever, her pockets full of wires. Bolt was big and excited, always ready for action.

“We challenge you!” Tink declared. “Yeah!” said Bolt. “Build a machine that launches Pip’s snack basket across the junkyard! If it lands safely, you win!” Pip froze. That was his favorite basket!

Milo grinned. “A challenge? Oh yes.” He placed a heavy bowling ball at the top of a tall ramp. “Right now, this ball has potential energy,” he explained. “It’s waiting to move.”

He pushed the ball. It rushed down the ramp— WHOOSH! It struck a seesaw and flung a rubber boot high into the sky. Bolt cheered. Tink dodged. Pip squawked.

Milo worked and worked. He built domino towers, bouncing springs, spinning fans, trampolines, bells, and levers. Some pieces were perfect. Others… toppled over… loudly.

A tire rolled away. A bucket splashed water everywhere. Everyone laughed—even Pip.

Finally—Milo stood back. The machine stretched across the hill, tall and wiggly and wonderful. “This,” Milo whispered proudly, “is ready.”

The marble rolled… click → snap → sproing → whirr → clang → BOING! Everything moved together in a perfect chain reaction of energy!

At the final ramp, Pip’s snack basket launched into the open sky. It spun like a happy little helicopter.

The basket floated down… down… and landed softly beside Tink and Bolt. They cheered.

Tink grinned. “Next time, can we build with you?” Bolt nodded. Pip chirped excitedly. Milo beamed. “Of course.”

Milo pressed a button. POOF! Confetti exploded everywhere. Everyone laughed. Together, they shouted: “POTENTIAL ENERGY… ACTIVATE!”
