High in the sky floated a tiny white cloud named Puff. He was the smallest cloud anyone had ever seen.

Below, the desert land was cracked and brown. Flowers had closed their faces long ago.

The big clouds gathered. “We must rain together!” But they argued about who would go first.

Little Puff drifted forward. “I will start.” The big clouds laughed: “You? You’re barely a puff!”

Puff took a deep breath and let go one silver drop. Then another. Then ten gentle drops.

The drops touched the dry earth — plink, plink — and the ground sighed with happiness.

A baby camel saw the green and ran to drink. A lost bird drank from a new puddle.

The big clouds watched in surprise. “His rain is waking the desert!”

One by one they joined Puff. First ten drops, then hundreds, then millions!

Together they poured the happiest rain the desert had ever felt. Rivers ran again.

When the sun returned, a giant rainbow thanked them all — but it touched Puff first.

From that day on, whenever the sky grew dry, the big clouds looked for little Puff and said, “Lead the way.” Because the smallest cloud who dared to rain alone taught the whole sky how to rain together.
