Curious Hoppie hears many stories about birds and sets off to find the truth—only to learn that things aren’t always what they seem.
Hoppie the little rabbit loved exploring. While other rabbits enjoyed nibbling on carrots, Hoppie’s favorite thing was discovering new things about the world. One day, Hoppie perked up its ears. "I’ve heard so many stories about birds—it’s time to find out for myself!" And so, with an excited hop, Hoppie set off on a new adventure.
Hoppie’s first stop was a sparkling pond, where mandarin ducks floated in pairs, their feathers gleaming like jewels. Hoppie’s nose twitched. “Oh! The legendary lovebirds from the East! They say you’re the sweetest pair ever—I bet that’s true!” One duck puffed up proudly. “Of course! We’re famous for it!” Hoppie watched with big, shiny eyes, visiting often, enchanted by their perfect love story.
But then—one day—Hoppie saw something surprising. One of the ducks had a new partner! The duck even fluffed its feathers and quacked, “New day, new date!” Hoppie's heart sank. “Wait… I thought you were together forever?” The ducks simply swam away, leaving Hoppie standing there, confused..
Hoppie needed answers. Deep in thought, it hopped further along the lake until it spotted a swan, gliding across the water like a queen. Hoppie whispered, “Ah, the fairy-tale swan from the West—grace and beauty in one. You must be the grandest bird ever!” The swan lifted its chin and smoothed its feathers. “Elegance is my destiny, little fluff.” Hoppie watched in awe—until a tiny duckling swam too close.
In a flash, the swan flared its wings, splashing water everywhere, and blared like a foghorn as it chased the little guy off, huffing, “Elegance needs order, and I’m in charge!” Hoppie jumped back. “Whoa! The fancy swan’s got a wild side too?” It tilted its head, watching with wide eyes. The swan ruffled its feathers and elegantly preened itself, as if nothing had happened. Hoppie’s whiskers twitched. Maybe being perfect wasn’t so simple after all.
Still pondering, Hoppie wandered through the woods when—‘CAW-CAW!’—a loud cry rang out. WHOOSH! Something swooped past, and—THUD!—Hoppie tumbled into the bushes. “Ugh, a crow…” Hoppie muttered, shaking off the leaves. “This guy’s got a strange reputation—what’s that about?”
It crouched behind a bush and watched for a while—the crow dropped a worm to its mate and gently tucked a feather around its babies. Hoppie blinked. “Wait… are you secretly a goodie? Maybe folks got you all wrong.” The crow gave a little shrug. “Let ‘em yap—I do my thing!” Hoppie’s tail twitched in disbelief. “Whoa! You’re super sweet? What a twist!”
After a busy day, Hoppie flopped onto a mushroom and gazed at the twinkling stars. “Huh, stories sure are funny!” it giggled. “Why’s what I heard so twisty from the truth?” Mama Rabbit peeked out from their cozy nest nearby. “Cause everyone sees just a speck and thinks it’s the whole sparkle!” she said with a grin.
Hoppie looked puzzled. "If ears and eyes can trick me, how do I find the truth?" Mama chuckled and said, “Feel with your heart, think with your mind, and let time show you the truth.” Hoppie gazed at the stars, deep in thought. After a moment, it murmured, “Guess there’s so much more to figure out…” With a happy hop, it snuggled into Mama’s warm hug and drifted into dreams of tomorrow’s adventures.
