He was very caring towards the old cow, and the old cow seemed to understand human nature, always rubbing its head against his hand to accompany him through the lonely days.
One day, the old cow suddenly spoke.
Cowherd, tomorrow when you go to the river, you will see seven fairies bathing and playing. One of them is called Weaver Girl. If you secretly hide her pink gauze dress, she will become your wife.
The cowherd was surprised and doubtful, but he still did as the old cow asked.
The next day, the cowherd came to the river and hid behind a tree.
Sure enough, I saw seven fairies in colorful clothes playing in the water.
Quietly took away the pink gauze skirt
After reaching the shore, the other fairies put on their clothes and flew away, leaving only Chang'e on the shore.
Only the Weaver Girl who had lost her gauze dress stayed behind, feeling ashamed and anxious.
The Cowherd came out quickly and returned the gauze dress to the Weaver Girl.
The Weaver Girl is the granddaughter of the Emperor of Heaven. She weaves beautiful clouds in the sky, but she has long been tired of the desolate heaven.
Seeing the Cowherd's honest appearance and hearing about his miserable life, the Weaver Girl felt very sympathetic and nodded and agreed to marry him.

After marriage, the cowherd plows the fields and the weaver girl weaves.
They also gave birth to a son and a daughter, and lived a happy and fulfilling life.
But the good times didn't last long. The Emperor of Heaven and Queen Mother of the West learned that the Weaver Girl had secretly come to the mortal world and were furious.
The Queen Mother came down to earth and grabbed the Weaver Girl to take her back to heaven.
When the Cowherd saw the Weaver Girl being taken away, he was extremely anxious.
At this time, the old cow suddenly said, "I am dying. You can peel off my skin and make shoes. Then you can take your child and fly to the sky to chase the Weaver Girl.
The Cowherd was reluctant to leave, but thinking about parting with the Weaver Girl, he did it with tears in his eyes.
He put on the leather shoes he had made, picked up the two children and really flew up to chase the Weaver Girl.
When she was about to catch up, the Queen Mother pulled out a golden hairpin from her head.
With a slight stroke between them, a turbulent Milky Way suddenly appeared, separating the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.
The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl looked at each other across the Milky Way and burst into tears.
Two children were also shouting for their mother in the basket.
Seeing their deep affection, the Queen Mother felt a little pity in her heart.
They were allowed to meet once a year on the seventh night of the seventh month of the lunar calendar.
From then on, every year on the Qixi Festival, the magpies in the sky would fly over
They used their bodies to build a magpie bridge across the Tianhe River, allowing the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl to meet on the bridge and express their love to each other. Their story has been passed down to this day
