Lily loves counting her steps on her walk to the park, but one day, the numbers disappear! Follow Lily as she discovers a clever way to bring the numbers back with the help of a busy squirrel.

Lily stomped her tiny red boots. One, two, three, she counted each step. The sidewalk was her counting playground. She loved her morning walk to the park.

Today, something felt wrong. “One!” she chirped. Then, "Where is two?" Her next step felt wobbly. The numbers were gone! Her smile tumbled right off her face.

She looked down. The cracks in the sidewalk didn't make numbers. The sparkly pebbles didn't make numbers. Lily’s steps grew slower. Her happy feet felt squishy, like walking on clouds. No counts! This was terrible! Even the big, green lamppost didn't help. It just stood there, tall and silent.

Then, a flick! A fluffy tail twitched. A busy squirrel zipped by. It picked up a big, brown acorn. Then another! And another! “One acorn, two acorns, three acorns!” Lily shouted.

Her eyes opened wide. The squirrel gathered four acorns, then five! Lily giggled. The numbers popped back! One, two, three, four, five! She skipped her way to the park, counting every bouncy step.
