The King of the Geese
A gentle fable about a wise goose king who leads with kindness and humility, teaching both his flock and a human king that true power lies in mercy and respect. The story combines adventure and moral lessons suitable for young children.
Far above the clouds, in a silver lake, lived a flock of golden geese. Their king was wise, calm, and brave.
He led his flock through storms and seasons, always choosing peace over pride.
One day, the king flew near a royal garden. A tasty rice field lay below.
He landed to nibble a few grains, not knowing it was a trap.
Snap! A net closed over him. He flapped and called, but could not escape.
A servant carried the goose to the palace. “A rare golden goose,” he said. “Fit for a king!”
The human king came to see. “Such feathers,” he said. “We will feast tomorrow.”
But that night, another goose flew into the palace window. It was the second-in-command.
“Take me,” the goose begged. “Let the king of geese go. He is worth more than me.”
The human king was surprised. “He is your king?”
“Yes,” said the goose. “He taught us to fly straight and share everything. He fed the old before the strong.”
The king turned to the captured goose. “Is this true?”
The goose bowed. “I broke a rule and was caught. I will not blame the trap or the hunger.”
The human king was silent. Then he said, “A ruler who leads with care deserves respect, not a cage.”
He ordered the net cut. “Go back to your lake. I will guard it, not hunt it.”
The two geese flew out over the moonlit sky.
And from that night on, no goose was caught in that kingdom again.
Because one king had learned from another—that true power comes from mercy.
