Nouns and Verbs

Words are all around us.

Some words name things. We call them nouns.

Tree. Ball. Cloud. These are all nouns.

Other words tell what happens. We call them verbs.

Run. Shine. Fly. These are all verbs.

A noun is a thing. A verb is what it does.

The bird (noun) can sing (verb).

The rain (noun) can fall (verb).

The sun (noun) can shine (verb).

Find nouns. Find verbs. Put them together.

And suddenly you can tell a story.
