Max's Little Seed
Max finds a tiny seed and, with a lot of impatience and a little help from Lily, learns that growing things (and good things in general) require sun, water, and most importantly, time. A charming story about patience and nature's processes.
Max finds a seed. A tiny, tiny seed. "I will plant you!" says Max.
Max digs a hole. He puts the seed inside. He covers it up. "Goodnight, little seed," says Max.
The next day, Max runs outside. He looks and looks. Nothing.
But under the ground… The seed drinks the water. The seed feels the sun. The seed is waking up.
"Grow!" says Max. "Please grow!" Nothing. Max waters it. A lot. A lot, a lot, a lot.
Under the ground… The roots grow down. Down, down, down. The little shoot pushes up. Slowly.
Max cannot wait. Max digs. Just a little look. "Are you in there?"
Oh no! The little shoot bends. "Too cold!" it says. "Too much light!"
Max is sad. "My seed is broken," he says. Lily sits down. "No, Max. Seeds need time," she says.
"First roots grow down. Then a shoot grows up. Then… a flower!" says Lily. "But it needs sun, water, and time."
Max waters it. A little. Max waits. One day. Two days. Three days.
One morning… A tiny green shoot! It is there! "IT IS THERE!" shouts Max.
Days go by. The shoot grows tall. Leaves open up. And then… a flower! A big, beautiful flower!
Max looks at his flower. "Good things need time," says Max. Then he finds another seed. "Let me do it again!"
