Little Pip, a chick no bigger than a teacup, saw a mountain! A glorious, golden mountain of rice! His tiny tummy rumbled like a faraway thunder. He had to eat it. He flapped his wings. *Flap-flap-flap!* He ran his little legs. *Pitter-patter-pitter-patter!* But the mountain was too tall. He couldn’t reach the top.

Then, Pip saw a shiny red ball. It bounced! *Boing! Boing!* An idea sparked in his little chick brain. He pushed the ball. *Push-push-push!* It rolled. It rolled right up to the rice mountain. Pip hopped on the ball. He stood high! He pecked. *Peck-peck-peck!* But the ball wobbled. *Wobble-wobble-wobble!* He tumbled down. The rice still untouched.

Next, Pip spied a long, green leaf. It looked like a tiny slide! He chirped with excitement. He dragged the leaf. *Drag-drag-drag!* It was heavy! He pulled it to the rice mountain. He propped it up. He thought he could slide up! *Whee!* But the leaf was too short. He slid right off before he could reach the delicious grains. His stomach gave another sad rumble.

Suddenly, Pip saw a big, juicy worm wiggling by. A truly magnificent worm! He chased it! *Chirp-chirp-chirp!* The worm wiggled faster. It wiggled right to the rice mountain. The worm then wiggled *up* the mountain! Pip, full of chase-excitement, followed right behind it. He scrambled up. *Scramble-scramble-scramble!* He reached the very top!

The golden rice gleamed. He pecked and pecked and pecked. *Munch-munch-munch!* His tummy felt full and happy. The mountain was conquered!
