Papi the paperclip was a very picky paperclip. He loved sorting papers, but only if they smelled just right. He sniffed every paper. If it didn't smell like fresh-baked cookies, Papi would *not* clip it. He’d wiggle and wobble and flip it away. This made things messy, oh so messy. Pip, a small, worried mouse, watched the paper piles grow into colorful mountains.
One sunny morning, the unthinkable happened. The baker’s shop, Papi’s favorite smell factory, closed! A big sign read, “NO MORE COOKIES!” Papi gasped. How could he sort now?
The papers, once bright and neat, became a chaotic rainbow mess. Papi just sat there, droopy and sad. He wouldn't even sniff a paper.
Pip knew something had to be done. He scurried past a little dust bunny, who suddenly *ACHOO!* sneezed a tiny cloud of dust. An idea sparked in Pip’s quick mouse brain.
He found a bright blue paper, but it had no cookie smell. Pip pushed it closer to Papi. Papi just drooped more. “No cookies,” he mumbled.
Next, Pip found a sparkly green paper. Still no cookie smell. He nudged it towards Papi. Papi sighed a big, paperclip sigh. The paper wiggled from the sigh and then, to Papi's surprise, slid right next to a yellow paper. It looked… almost neat!
Pip then spotted a fluffy, gray dust bunny. He gently pushed the dust bunny toward a pile of red papers. *ACHOO!* Another tiny sneeze! The papers fluttered and settled, one on top of the other. Papi blinked.
The red papers, even without a cookie smell, looked quite tidy. He wiggled a little. He carefully snagged a blue paper and slid it under a green one. It wasn't a cookie smell, but it was… sorted. The piles, slowly, began to shrink. Papi realized that even unsniffed papers could be neat, and that was a sweet discovery all its own.
