Barnaby, grumpy about his lost watering can and wilting sunflower Sunny, unexpectedly finds warmth in his heart by helping a spider, a squirrel, and a butterfly in the Whispering Woods. A sweet story about how small acts of kindness can make a big difference, not just for others, but for ourselves.

Barnaby stomped through the Whispering Woods. One red sock, one green sock. He grumbled, "My watering can! Gone! Sunny is so droopy! So, so droopy!"

Suddenly, a tiny giggle echoed. "Oh, dear! My dewdrop!" A spider wept. "It rolled away!"

Barnaby sighed. "Fine." He peered. He pointed. "There! Under the moss!" The spider spun a happy thank you. Barnaby felt a tiny, strange warmth.

He tramped on. "Sunny needs water! So much water!" Then, a sleepy yawn. "My nuts! Stuck!" A squirrel whimpered. "Way up high!"

Barnaby huffed. "Give me that!" He shook the branch. Nuts tumbled down. The squirrel chattered thanks. Barnaby felt a bigger, warm wobble.

He hustled. "My can! My poor Sunny!" A fluttering, confused sigh. "Which flower?" A butterfly spun. "I forget which!"

Barnaby squinted. "This one! Bright yellow!" The butterfly dipped and sipped. "Oh, thank you!" She fluttered happily. Barnaby’s chest felt so warm.

At last, his watering can! Right by Sunny! He watered his sunflower. Sunny perked up.

Barnaby even smiled. A tiny, tiny smile.
