Max judges the Great Jungle Race, but when he realizes the race isn’t fair, he comes up with a clever way to celebrate each animal’s unique way of moving.
Max was the judge of the Great Jungle Race! All of the animals lined up at the starting line.
Giraffe, Elephant, Leopard, Monkey, Grasshopper and tiny Ant!
Max raised the flag to start the race, but then he stopped. "This race is not fair!" he said.
"Some of you are fast, some are slow. Some are big, some are small!" The animals looked at each other. Max was right!
Max had an idea "Let’s still have the race, but at the end, I will give out special prizes!"
The animals cheered. "Ready… set… GO!" Leopard raced ahead. Giraffe took big steps. Elephant stomped loudly.
Monkey swung through the trees. Grasshopper hopped. Ant ran as fast as she could.
Leopard raced across the finish line first! Then came Giraffe, Elephant, Monkey, and Grasshopper. And last across the line was Ant.
"Now it’s time for the special prizes!" Max said. "The winner of the Fastest Steps Award is… Leopard!" Leopard laughed. "I love to run!"
"The winner of the Most Steps Award is… Ant!" Ant giggled. "I took so many tiny steps!"
"The Least Steps Award goes to… Giraffe!" "My long legs helped me take big steps!" Giraffe said proudly.
"The Loudest Steps Award goes to… Elephant!" "Boom! Boom! BOOM! That’s me!" said Elephant.
"The Highest Steps Award goes to… Grasshopper!" "I jumped the whole way!" Grasshopper said happily.
"And the No Steps Award goes to… Monkey!" "I didn’t take any steps. I swung through the trees!" Monkey laughed.
"Everyone raced in their own special way, and that makes you all winners!" It was the best jungle race ever!
