Story Details

Bowls of pasta flew out of the kitchen faster than Max could carry them!

One of his jobs was to take the hot, heavy bowls to the special cooling table before serving them to hungry customers.

But every time Max came back to pick up a cooled bowl, it felt much lighter than before. Some of the pasta had vanished!

“Hmm,” Max said, scratching his head. “When I put the bowl down, it is heavier. But when I pick it back up, the bowl is lighter. Where’s all the pasta going?

Determined to solve the mystery, Max started watching the table very closely.

He saw heavy bowls go on the cooling table… then later, the bowls were lighter. But he never saw anyone take a bite!

Max came up with a plan. He made an extra-heavy bowl of spaghetti with extra-long noodles.

He placed it carefully on the table… then ducked behind the counter to wait.

Suddenly, one of the spaghetti noodles gave a little wiggle!

The long noodle began to slither under the table like a snake.

Max tiptoed after it and peeked underneath…

There, tangled in the noodles, was a mischievous little monkey with a mouthful of spaghetti!

“You’ve been sneaking pasta!” Max exclaimed. “No wonder the bowls are lighter!”

The monkey looked guilty—but also very, very hungry.

Max had an idea. “If you help me carry the heavy bowls, I’ll make you a special banana pasta!”

The monkey’s eyes lit up. He clapped and gave Max a big pasta-covered hug.

From that day on, Max and the monkey worked as a perfect pasta team.

Max had solved the mystery of the vanishing pasta, and every bowl stayed just as heavy as when it left the kitchen.

At the end of every day, the monkey slurped up his favorite treat! Banana pasta, with extra noodles! Yum!
