Story Details

Pitter was a tiny raindrop, small and shy. Every day, Pitter loved to tap soft little rhythms on the green leaves.

Tap, tap, tap—Pitter’s drops made gentle sounds that no one else seemed to hear. But when the big puddles called for songs and splashes, Pitter stayed quiet and alone. "I’m too small," Pitter thought. "My soft taps can’t join loud splashes."

One calm morning, a curious breeze tiptoed through the garden. It whispered to Pitter, "Come fly with me!" Slowly, the breeze lifted Pitter up, softly swirling in the cool air. Pitter twirled and bounced, feeling the sky’s fresh, cool breath.

“Tap, tap, tap,” Pitter tapped on a fluffy cloud. The cloud giggled and wobbled, making soft puff sounds. Pitter felt brave and tapped again. “Tap, tap, tap,” Pitter sang. The breeze danced faster, lifting Pitter higher toward the sparkling sun.

Next, Pitter floated down to a blue bird’s wing. “Tap, tap, tap,” Pitter tapped gently. The bird chirped a sweet song and flapped its wings, making a soft whoosh. Pitter’s rhythm joined the bird’s melody. The breeze laughed and swirled them around.

Then, Pitter landed on a shiny leaf shining with morning dew. “Tap, tap, tap,” Pitter tapped with more hope. The leaf trembled, and the dew drops joined in, dripping and plopping to the ground below. Pitter’s rhythm was no longer alone.

Finally, the breeze carried Pitter toward a big, glittering puddle. “Come on, Pitter!” called the puddle with splashes and laughs.

With a deep breath, Pitter tapped once more. “Tap, tap, tap!” The puddle heard the soft rhythm and smiled. Splash by splash, the puddle’s music grew softer, gentler. Pitter was not too small anymore. Pitter’s sound could dance and make friends in the wide, wide sky.

From that day, Pitter tapped rhythms everywhere—on clouds, on wings, on leaves, in puddles. Pitter’s little taps joined the great big songs, shining softly in the rain’s endless dance.
