Giant sea reptiles lived in the oceans at the same time as dinosaurs. They were not dinosaurs but different reptiles adapted to the sea.

Ichthyosaurs looked like modern dolphins. They had long snouts with many sharp teeth.

Some ichthyosaurs grew over 20 meters long. They were among the largest marine reptiles.

Plesiosaurs had small heads and very long necks. They used four flippers to glide gracefully through water.

Elasmosaurus was a plesiosaur with an extremely long neck. It may have hunted fish while staying hidden below.

Some marine reptiles had short necks and huge jaws. They are called pliosaurs.
