Story Details

Create a children's story illustration in origami style, the material is like handmade laminated paper, warm tones, detailed, shimmering. Barnaby the teacup hummed. He hummed a loud opera tune when hot tea filled him. *La la la!* went Barnaby.

But then, a sugar cube vanished! He hummed again, a soaring melody. *Poof!* Another sugar cube disappeared. "A ghost!" Barnaby shivered. "A mischievous, sugar-stealing ghost!" He knew his beautiful hums must be calling it.

He had to stop the sugar thief. He had to begin a *highly scientific* investigation.

First, Barnaby interviewed the spoons. "Did you see the ghost?" he whispered. Little Silver Spoon just jingled. Big Wooden Spoon stayed quiet. They saw nothing. Barnaby sighed. The ghost was very sneaky.

Next, he asked the saucers. "Did you hear a whisper? A giggle?" he demanded. Dainty Blue Saucer just shimmered. Sturdy Green Saucer just sat still. They heard nothing. Barnaby frowned. The ghost was very silent.

Then, Barnaby set a trap. He used crumbs! Little breadcrumbs made a circle around the sugar bowl. "The ghost will step on them!" he declared. He hummed a soft, waiting tune. *Hmmmm.*

In the morning, the crumbs were scattered! But the sugar cubes were gone! And there were little paw prints! Tiny, dusty paw prints!

Barnaby hummed a surprised note. Paw prints! Not a ghost! He watched. He hummed a loud, cheerful tune. *La la la!* A fuzzy, brown head peeked. It was Pip, the family dog!

Pip’s tail wagged. He snuffled a sugar cube. It disappeared with a soft *plink*! Pip looked so innocent. Barnaby giggled. "Pip!" he sang out. "You are an opera critic with sticky paws!"
