A classic fairy tale about a brave princess, Elisa, who must break a wicked spell cast upon her eleven brothers, transforming them into swans. Through silence and sacrifice, she weaves nettle shirts to restore their human form, proving the power of sibling love and unwavering courage.
Once upon a time, in a peaceful kingdom, there lived a king with his eleven sons and his little daughter, Elisa. They loved one another dearly and lived happily in a grand castle surrounded by green forests.
One day, the king married a new queen. But the stepmother was wicked and jealous of the king’s children. She cast a spell turning the eleven princes into white swans and banished Elisa from the castle.
Elisa wandered through dark forests and crossed rivers and mountains searching for her brothers. One evening, she saw eleven white swans flying across the sky and ran after them with hope in her heart.
When night fell, the swans landed by a quiet lake and turned back into men. Elisa burst into tears and hugged them tightly. The brothers told her that only if she wove shirts from stinging nettles and stayed completely silent, the curse would be broken.
Elisa gathered wild nettles and began weaving. Her hands bled, but she never stopped working day and night. Outside her cave, the swans circled the sky, guarding her with love.
One day, Elisa fainted by the roadside, exhausted. A kind king passed by, saw her gentle face, and took her to his castle. He soon married her, but Elisa remained silent to keep her promise.
A jealous old lady in the castle hated Elisa and accused her of being a witch. Because Elisa could not speak to defend herself, she was sentenced to death.
As Elisa was brought to the execution place, eleven white swans flew down from the sky. She threw the nettle shirts over them — and in a flash of bright light, they turned back into humans. The king understood everything and rushed to embrace Elisa in tears.
The curse was lifted. Elisa, her brothers, and the king lived happily in the castle filled with sunshine and flowers. The youngest brother still had one white swan’s wing — a reminder of their miracle and her brave love. A rainbow shone across the sky, symbolizing love, courage, and faith.
