After a rain shower, a curious girl named Maya discovers the magic behind rainbows, learning how light, water, and even tiny prisms create these beautiful arcs in the sky and on the ground. A whimsical exploration of a natural phenomenon.
once upon a time Maya stands on a grassy hill after the rain, staring at a bright rainbow arching across the sky. The air sparkles with light and color. She wonders, “How did that rainbow get there?”
It had just stopped raining. Maya pressed her face to the window. Raindrops clung to the glass like tiny jewels. Then—wow!—a rainbow appeared across the sky. “Where did those colors come from?” she whispered.
Outside, the world was shiny and new. Maya jumped into puddles and splashed with delight. When she looked down, she noticed something—tiny colors dancing in the water! Could puddles make rainbows too?
Back home, Maya found a little glass prism on her desk. She held it up to the sun. A streak of light passed through—and out came colors! “Red, orange, yellow, green…” she counted, amazed. Just like a rainbow!
Maya imagined herself shrinking tiny—small enough to fit inside a raindrop. The sunlight entered, bent, bounced, and split apart into colors. “That’s it!” Maya laughed. “Raindrops are nature’s little prisms!”
Maya grabbed her notebook and began to draw. “Light goes in… bends… and comes out as colors,” she explained proudly. She drew arrows and colored bands. “The rainbow is sunlight doing gymnastics!”
The next day, another shower came. Maya ran outside as sunlight peeked through the clouds. Rain and sun—together! And just like that, a brand-new rainbow began to appear.
Maya twirled and walked along the wet grass, where faint colors shimmered in the mist. The world felt magical—like she was walking inside the rainbow itself. But every time she tried to get closer, it seemed to move away!
She crouched by a puddle and smiled. “Even down here, rainbows hide!” The sunlight bounced off the water and made tiny rings of color. Rainbows weren’t far away—they were everywhere light and water met.
Maya ran across the meadow, chasing the bright arc in the sky. But the closer she ran, the farther it went. “Rainbows don’t sit still,” she laughed. “They move with the light!”
Back at home, Maya held her prism again—this time outside. The sunlight burst through and painted rainbows all over the grass. “Rainbows can happen anywhere,” she said, “as long as there’s light!”
Maya looked closely at falling rain. Each drop sparkled like glass. “Every drop holds a secret rainbow,” she whispered. Millions of tiny mirrors painting one big sky.
As the day faded, the rainbow melted into sunset. Maya smiled softly. “Now I know how you’re made,” she said. “You’re sunlight and rain working together.” And she waved goodbye to the fading colors.
