Story Details

A long time ago, a boy named Isaac was very curious. He looked at the world and asked, "Why?" He loved to watch the light.

One sunny day, Isaac saw colors in the window. His house had old glass. The glass had a funny shape. It was called a prism.

Isaac had an idea. He made his room very dark. He let one beam of sunlight inside. It was a single white line.

He put the prism in the light. The white light bent! It touched the wall. And then, a miracle!

The light was not white anymore. It was a band of colors! Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. A rainbow!

People thought color was in the glass. But Isaac asked, "Is the color in the light?" He had to find out.

He used a second prism. He took just the red light. He shone it through the new glass. What would happen?

The light came out red! It did not change. Isaac discovered the truth. White light holds all the colors inside.

He wrote down what he saw. He showed the world his discovery. He proved that sunlight is a rainbow.

So when you see a rainbow in the sky, remember Isaac. He was a curious boy who discovered the secret of light.
