Story Details

The Lonely Star Far away in the night sky, there was a little star who shined alone.

She looked down at Earth every night, watching children laugh, lights glow, rivers sparkle.

But up in space, she had no one to talk to. “I wish I had a friend,” she whispered. Her voice drifted quietly through the darkness.

One night, a small comet flew by. “Why are you so quiet, little star?” he asked.

“I’m alone,” the star said. “No one stays near me long enough to talk.” The comet smiled. “Then I will stay.”

They played hide-and-seek behind the moon,

chased each other through silver dust, and drew shapes with trails of light.

The star laughed for the first time in a long while. But soon, the comet began to slow down.

“I must keep traveling,” he said softly. “That’s what comets do.” The star’s light dimmed. “Will you come back?”

“Of course,” said the comet. “And when I do, your light will guide me home.” The comet flew away, leaving a bright line across the sky.

The star watched, shining stronger than ever. She was no longer lonely— because real friendship, she learned, doesn’t disappear. It just travels for a while.

That night, children on Earth saw her light and whispered, “Look! The star is smiling.”
