Story Details

Princess Amalia loved only red petals. She kept them in shiny jars. Nothing else was good enough.

A big wind came. It blew all the red petals away! They flew into the "Thorn Maze." Amalia ran out. Her feet were bare. She must get her petals back.

Deep in the maze, she saw a knight. His metal suit was stuck with rust. He could not move. Amalia still had one red petal.

She pushed it into the knight's rust. The rust softened. The knight could wiggle his arm. Amalia went deeper.

Next, she heard a bird cry. Its little throat was scraped by thorns. Blood dripped. Amalia used her last bit of red petal. She pressed it on the bird's hurt. The bleeding stopped. The bird sang a tiny, soft song. Amalia went even deeper.

Then, she found a gardener. He sat alone. His face was sad. He had forgotten how to smile.

Amalia touched his ear with the softened petal. The petal felt warm. A small smile started on his face. He remembered how to grin.

Suddenly, the whole maze changed. One giant red rose bush grew. It showered red petals everywhere! The land was covered.

Amalia looked at her jars. She opened them wide. Red petals were special. But helping others felt even better.
