Jonas the hedgehog, spiky and grand, Rolled topaz pinecones across the land. They glowed like small suns, a warm, happy sight, Filling the forest with shimmering light.
Then fiery shadows began to alight, A hungry red monster, so big and so bright! It roared through the branches, a terrible sound, And carried his treasures to high “Ember Crown” ground.
Jonas brave, tiny, with quills all askew, Into the smoke and the ash, he flew. First, a squirrel, poor fellow, with tail singed and bare, Cried, “Oh, my dear Jonas, I’m lost in despair!”
Jonas, quick thinking, with a sniff and a glance, Cracked a warm pinecone, gave the squirrel a chance. Its sweet golden sap made the small creature smile, And Jonas kept going, mile after mile.
Next came a bear cub, who whimpered and cried, “My mommy, my mommy, where did she hide?”
The path was all dark, full of danger and fear, But Jonas’s pinecone made the way bright and clear. Its glow led the cub, with a soft, gentle gleam, Like a comforting, warm, and wonderful dream.
Then an old owl, with eyes full of pain, “The smoke has blinded me, again and again!” His wise old wings fluttered, no longer to soar,
Jonas knew what to do, and he ran to the core. He squeezed out sweet sap, cool and golden and grand, And bathed the owl’s eyes with a gentle soft hand.
Suddenly, goodness, a wonder unfurled! Where Jonas had stood, a new tree in the world! A golden pine grew, reaching up to the sky, And rained topaz cones as the dawn hurried nigh.
Now Jonas shares riches, with all creatures he meets, For true topaz warmth, frozen hearts it defeats!
