Story Details

Hazel the squirrel loved blue. Only sky-blue acorns sparkled for her. She piled them high.

A sneaky, cawing crow swooped! He snatched every single one. Up, up, up he flew, hiding them in the Tallest Pine.

Hazel stomped her tiny foot. She had to get them back!

Up the Tallest Pine, Hazel scampered. A shiver-cold ladybug sat on a leaf. "Brrr!" it buzzed.

Hazel looked at her last blue acorn. CRACK! She gave the ladybug a tiny piece. The ladybug smiled, warm again. Hazel scampered higher.

A hungry woodpecker tapped a sad, empty hole. "Tap, tap, nothing!" it pecked.

Hazel looked at her last blue acorn. CRACK! She plugged the hole with a piece. The woodpecker chirped, happy again. Hazel scampered higher.

A lost baby owl blinked big, wet eyes. "Hoo-hoo?" it cried softly.

Hazel looked at her last blue acorn. CRACK! She left a blue trail on the branch for the owl to follow home. The baby owl blinked, flying off. Hazel scampered highest.

The naughty crow watched. His black feathers drooped. ASHAMED! He let go.

Plink, plonk, plunk! Every blue acorn tumbled down.

Hazel smiled. She left them on the ground. Everyone could share.
