Story Details

Barnaby, the giant, gasped. A tiny scratch! On his sparkly red wagon! His bottom lip wobbled. "My wagon is sad now," he boomed. Glittering tears, big as marbles, tumbled down his cheeks. He couldn't ask his pet snail, Shelley, to ride in a sad wagon. Never!

"I need a new wagon!" Barnaby declared. He stomped to Granny Giga's General Store. "Granny Giga! I need a new, un-scratched red wagon!" Granny Giga smiled. "Only a small blue one, dear." Barnaby's face fell. Blue was not red. No, not red at all.

He tramped to the Whispering Woods. "Mr. Gnome! I need a new, un-scratched red wagon!" Mr. Gnome tugged his beard. "I have a tiny green one, big fellow." Green was not red. Barnaby felt a new wave of glittery tears.

Barnaby trudged up Giggle Mountain. "Mama Bear! I need a new, un-scratched red wagon!" Mama Bear chuckled. "My cubs have a yellow one, Barnaby." Yellow was not red. Barnaby really cried then. A river of glitter flowed down the mountain.

Suddenly, Shelley, his giant snail, nudged his knee. Shelley wiggled her shell. Barnaby looked down. The tiny scratch on his red wagon seemed... smaller. Maybe Shelley didn't mind? He carefully, gently, lifted Shelley into the wagon. Shelley peeked out, happy as could be. The scratch didn't bother Shelley one bit! Barnaby smiled. His happy glitter tears sparkled.
