Lily's Garden Mittens
Lily, a little girl who always wears her red mittens, discovers her garden plants are sad and droopy. With a little water and sunshine, and a lot of care, she helps her plants perk up and grow strong, learning about nature and nurturing along the way.
Lily always wore her fuzzy red mittens. Even when the sun shone big and bright, her mittens stayed on. One morning, she peeked at her garden. Oh no! Her green little plants looked sad. They drooped like sleepy puppies. The soil was dry, dry, dry.
First, Lily poked the dirt with her mitten-covered finger. It felt hard and crumbly. The tiny leaves looked thirsty. She thought, "My poor plants need a drink!" She grabbed her small blue watering can. Plink, plonk, plink went the water onto the dry dirt. The plants drank it up fast. But they still looked a little droopy.
Next, Lily saw the sun. It was high in the sky, warm and golden. She moved a big, shady leaf away from a tiny flower. The sunbeams kissed the flower. It stretched a little, reaching up, up, up. Lily giggled. The plant liked the sun! She moved more leaves and branches. More sun splashed onto her garden. The plants began to sway gently.
Then, a little gust of wind whispered through. Lily took off one red mitten. She touched a soft, green leaf. It felt a tiny bit stronger. She poured more water, plink, plonk, plink. More sun found its way to the growing sprouts. Each little plant began to perk up. They stretched and wiggled.
Her garden started to look not-so-sad anymore. It looked happy and green. Lily smiled. Her plants were growing big and strong. Her garden brightened, full of tiny green wonders.
