Barnaby's Sunny Adventure
Barnaby the badger, with his rainbow stripes, dreams of sunny lands. When a tiny yellow flower lands near his home, he embarks on an adventurous journey through the dark woods and across a sandy field to help the lost flower find its family.
Barnaby the badger had stripes like a rainbow. He lived in the deep, dark woods. But Barnaby dreamed of sunny lands. He saw them in old pictures.
One day, a tiny flower landed near his home. It was bright yellow, like a tiny sun! It smelled sweet, like nothing in his forest. This flower was lost. Barnaby felt a little flutter in his chest. He knew he had to help it find its family, far away.
First, Barnaby carried the flower carefully. He walked out of his shadowy sett. The forest felt big and dark. Every rustle made him jump! He walked past giant oak trees. Their leaves made green shadows. The ground was soft and damp. He held the flower up to the bits of sunlight that peeked through the leaves. The flower looked sleepy.
Barnaby felt a little scared, but he kept going for the tiny flower. Next, he came to a bubbling stream. The water splashed and gurgled. It was too wide to jump!
Barnaby put the flower gently on a flat leaf. He pushed the leaf into the water. It floated like a tiny boat! Barnaby swam quickly beside it. The water was cold and splashed his nose. He shivered, but the flower looked a little brighter on its leaf-boat. He knew its family was waiting.
Then, they reached the edge of the forest. The sun was so bright! Barnaby blinked his small eyes. He saw a huge, sandy field. It stretched far, far away. This must be where the flower’s family lived!
Barnaby walked slowly. The sand was warm under his paws. Hot wind blew dust in his face. He held the flower close. He saw more yellow flowers, just like his tiny friend! They waved in the sunshine. The tiny flower perked up.
Barnaby gently placed it among its family. It looked so happy! Barnaby smiled. His heart felt warm, like the sunny plains.
