A clever adaptation of Aesop's fable, this story follows a thirsty crow who discovers a pitcher of water just out of reach. Through patience and problem-solving, the crow learns that small, consistent efforts can lead to great success.
The sun blazed high.A thirsty crow searched the empty fields, but every puddle was dry.
He flapped weakly, eyes sharp for anything that might hold water.
Then he saw it. A clay pitcher stood beside the road. It was dusty, but something glinted at the bottom.
He hopped over and peered inside. “Yes! Water!” But the neck was too narrow—his beak couldn’t reach.
The crow tried tipping it over. He pushed, tugged, pecked,no use. The pitcher was too heavy.
He stared at the small pebbles scattered around his feet. His eyes brightened. “Maybe I can bring the water to me!”
He picked up a pebble in his beak and dropped it into the pitcher. “Plink.”
He dropped another. “Plonk.” Then another. “Plink-plonk…plonk-plink!” The water inside rippled higher.
A butterfly hovered nearby, watching. “What are you doing?” “Making the water a little higher,” said the crow.
Pebble by pebble, the water rose. His wings trembled with effort, but he didn’t stop.
At last, the water’s surface shimmered near the rim. The crow leaned in and drank. The drops were cool and sweet on his tongue.
He sighed with relief. The land was still hot and dry, but now he had enough strength to fly again.
He looked back at the pitcher. “Small stones, big change,” he said softly.
The crow took off into the glowing sky. Far below, the pitcher gleamed like a quiet promise: Patience and thought bring water to the thirsty.
