Story Details

In a colorful pencil box lived a small purple crayon named Violet. She was the newest and the shyest.

Every day the other crayons drew suns, oceans, dragons. Violet stayed in the corner.

“I’m too small. My color is nothing special,” she whispered when the child picked her up.

The white paper looked huge and empty. Violet trembled. “What if I ruin everything?”

The child waited. Violet closed her eyes and made one tiny purple dot.

Nothing bad happened. She made another dot… then a little line.

She drew a flower. Then a butterfly. Then a smiling moon.

The other crayons cheered. “Look! Violet is making the night sky!”

The child added stars with yellow and clouds with white — all around Violet’s purple world.

The picture was hung on the wall. Everyone who saw it smiled.

From then on, Violet was the first crayon chosen every day.

And every new crayon in the box learned: the scariest white page only stays scary until you dare to leave your color on it. One small mark can start the most beautiful picture.
