Story Details

Look at this amazing place! It is a deep canyon with rocky, orange-red walls.

I am Cliff, a big, strong rock. I have been here for a very, very long time.

The hot, bright sun shines on me every day. It warms my stone surface.

The wind is always blowing here. It gently pushes the sand and dust across my face.

A big, brown hawk soars high above me, circling in the wide, blue sky.

Sometimes, rain falls, and the water drips down slowly, smoothing the sharp edges of the rocks.

Brave desert plants grow right out of the small cracks near my feet.

Look at my side! I have many different layers of rock. Each layer tells a story of the past.

A tiny desert mouse runs by, leaving small, delicate tracks in the soft sand.

After a rain shower, a beautiful rainbow arches over the vast, red canyon.

When it is night, the sky is dark and clear. I watch the moon and thousands of stars.

I am Cliff, a steady rock. I stand tall and strong, watching the sun rise over my ancient home.
