Story Details

My journey begins high up! I am Rio, a small stream, born from a tiny mountain spring.

I flow quickly down the mountainside! I splash over rocks and hurry downhill.

I flow through the deep green forest. The trees look down and wave their leaves at me.

Lots of happy fish swim in my cool water. They play hide-and-seek among the smooth stones.

More water joins me from other streams! I grow much wider and deeper now.

Sometimes, a small wooden canoe floats on my surface. I carry it gently along.

When the sun shines on me, my water sparkles brightly, like a long, silver ribbon.

A mother duck and her babies are floating near the grassy bank. They paddle their little feet.

A strong stone bridge arches over me. People walk above, looking down at my flow.

I flow past a farm, helping the farmer's crops grow by keeping the soil moist.

I did it! My long journey is over. I flow right into the huge, salty ocean.

I am Rio, the rushing river. Now I mix my fresh water with the ocean as the sun sets.
