Story Details

Hello! This is Poppy. Poppy loves to paint, but today her canvas is all white. She needs colors!

Poppy found the first color. It was bright Red! Red is the color of a juicy apple and a friendly fire truck.

Next, Poppy found sunny Yellow! Yellow is the color of the big, bright sun and a happy, sweet banana.

What happens when Poppy mixes Red and Yellow together? She stirs, stirs, stirs... and makes Orange!

Orange is the color of a crunchy carrot and a yummy pumpkin in the fall.

Now for a cool color! Poppy found Blue. Blue is the color of the deep, big ocean and the sky on a sunny day.

Poppy mixed Yellow and Blue. What did she get? Green! Green is the color of fresh, soft grass and the leaves on a tall tree.

Let's make one more color! Poppy mixed Red and Blue together. She created beautiful Purple!

Purple is the color of sweet grapes and pretty, soft lavender flowers.

Poppy now has Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Green, and Purple! She can paint anything she sees!

Poppy painted a big picture with all her new colors: a red apple under a blue sky, next to a green tree!

Colors help us see and understand the world. They are bright, fun, and all around us! Good job, Poppy!
