Story Details

Dewdrop loved to sing. Oh, how she loved to sing! Silly songs, happy songs, bouncy songs! But her friends, the other dewdrops, just rolled on by. They rolled and shimmered, never stopping to hear her tunes. Dewdrop felt a tiny, tiiiiny ache in her sparkly heart. She sang a song about a buzzing bee, but whoosh! A big dewdrop tumbled past, splashing her. Not even a glance!

Next, Dewdrop sang about a sleepy spider. She twirled a little, making her voice bubble. Then, zip! Another group of dewdrops zoomed by, creating a tiny ripple that almost knocked her right off her leaf. Her sparkly sadness grew a little bigger. “Don’t they like my songs?” she whispered, a wobble in her voice.

She tried again, singing about a fluffy cloud floating in the sky. She felt her song was her bestest ever. But then, swish! A whole line of dewdrops rolled over her leaf, leaving her shaking and alone. Her heart felt heavy, like a very wet pebble. She felt so, so sad. A big tear gathered inside her. It felt like her voice didn't matter at all.

Then, Dewdrop sang her saddest song. It was a soft, quiet song about being all alone in the big, wide world. As her tiny, trembling voice filled the air, something amazing happened. A little bluebell flower, nearby, slowly, slowly drooped its head. It bent low, as if listening with all its might! Dewdrop stopped singing. The flower had heard her! It had *really* heard her!

A huge, bubbly joy spread through Dewdrop. Her sadness melted away like morning mist. Her whole self shimmered with bright, happy sparkles. Her songs *did* matter! Her music touched someone! The little bluebell slowly lifted its head, and Dewdrop, shining brighter than ever, knew she wasn't alone after all.
