Story Details

Plink, a tiny water droplet, loved to roll. Oh, he loved it! But Plink only rolled backwards. Zoom! Backward he’d go. The big, big river shimmered far away, but Plink just wiggled further from it. “Oh, no, no, no!” he gurgled.

First, Plink tried to roll past a bumpy grey pebble. He pushed with all his might. “Hmph!” Plink puffed. But *zzzzzzzzip*! He spun backward, right into a puddle. “Silly Plink!” giggled the pebble. “Wrong way!”

Next, Plink saw some tall, green grass. “Maybe they can help!” he squeaked. He braced himself, ready to roll forward. *Whoosh!* He flipped backward again, right under a blade of grass. “Tickle, tickle!” laughed the grass. Plink jiggled, feeling a little sad. The big river felt so far.

Then, a warm, golden sunbeam touched Plink. It felt so cozy. The sunbeam didn't push him backward. No! It gently, softly, nudged him *forward*. Plink gasped. He rolled one tiny bit forward. “Wow!” he whispered.

He felt a little push from the sunbeam again. *Boop!* He rolled forward a tiny bit more! Another droplet, just as small, rolled beside him. Then another! Soon, Plink was rolling *forward*, with new friends, feeling the warm sunbeam guide them. The big river was getting closer! “We’re going!” cheered Plink, rolling, rolling, rolling, finally, the right way.
