Join Leo the scientist on an exciting journey to explore the wonders of the human body. Discover how the brain, heart, lungs, bones, muscles, and senses work together to make us amazing. This story teaches young readers about basic anatomy and the importance of taking care of their bodies through healthy habits.
Hello! This is Leo. Today, Leo is a scientist! He wants to know how his body works. Our Body is like a very smart machine that works all day and night.
Inside Leo’s head is the Brain. The brain is the "Boss" of the body. It helps Leo Think, learn, remember, and tells his legs to run and his hands to wave.
In his chest, Leo feels a "Thump-thump." That is his Heart. The heart is a strong pump. It sends Blood to every part of his body to keep him alive and healthy.
Leo takes a deep breath. He is using his Lungs. The lungs take in Oxygen from the air when he breathes in, and push out air when he breathes out.
Under his skin, Leo has Bones. All his bones together make a Skeleton. Bones are hard and strong. They act like a frame to hold him up and protect his soft parts.
Leo can jump because of his Muscles. Muscles are attached to his bones. They pull and stretch to help him Move, run, and lift heavy things.
When Leo eats an apple, it goes to his Stomach. The stomach breaks down the food into tiny pieces so his body can get the Energy it needs to play.
Leo uses his Senses to explore the world. He sees with his Eyes, hears with his Ears, smells with his Nose, tastes with his Tongue, and feels with his Skin.
Leo’s whole body is covered in Skin. Skin is the largest organ! It protects his insides, keeps him at the right temperature, and lets him feel if something is hot or cold.
Our bodies are amazing because they Grow and Fix themselves! If Leo gets a small cut, his body works hard to heal it. Every day, he gets a little bit taller.
Leo knows he must take care of his body. He eats healthy food, exercises, and gets plenty of Sleep to keep his "machine" running perfectly.
Leo is proud of his amazing body! From his brain to his toes, everything works together. What is the coolest thing your body can do?
