Mark and the Hoofprint
Mark, initially grumpy about Christmas, discovers a mysterious hoofprint and a nibbled carrot by his fireplace. He follows a trail of huge prints in the snow, leading him on an enchanting adventure that changes his mind about the holiday magic.
Mark grumbled. Christmas was silly. He grabbed the broom. The fireplace was sooty.
Then he saw it! A huge hoofprint. It was pressed in the soot! It smelled like cold wind. A half-eaten carrot lay there.
Mark had left it out. He looked at the sky. It was bright blue. His heart thumped.
He poked the hoofprint. It was real. Not just a dream. He touched the carrot.
It felt nibbled. A shiver ran down his spine. Mark peeked up the chimney.
It was dark. But he felt a giggle. A tiny, happy sound.
He ran outside. The snow sparkled. He saw another print! Near the house. Bigger than his shoe.
Then another! Past the big oak tree. It led to the woods. The prints were huge. He followed them.
His feet crunched. He felt so small. The world felt so big. He looked up again.
The sky was still blue. He smiled. Christmas was not silly after all.
